Julia Toaspern is a multi-talented musician from Berlin who combines classical training on violin and voice with a wide interest in genres such as jazz, baroque and traditional music. She has released two guitar-based albums of jazz-influenced original songs and traditional instrumentals and has performed in both classical and singer/songwriter modes on both sides of the Atlantic. On top of all this, her skills as a guitarist are prodigious and make an exciting fit with Tony McManus's work.
Julia brings an infectious enthusiasm to all her music, whether she's playing an Irish reel on fiddle, singing a Monteverdi madrigal or swinging on guitar behind a jazz standard.
She has spent the past years gigging around Europe and the East Coast, performing across Canada, played in Cuba and recorded in NYC - but she feels at home in the Scottish highlands where she makes music, tends sheep, milks goats and is inspired by the clarity, even when it's foggy.
