Performance Zen: How to Take Your Playing from the Living Room to the Concert Stage
Do you get paralyzed by your mistakes? Do they keep you from performing, or on bad days, does your poor attitude keep you from even picking up your guitar? Have you stopped working on a song you'd love to play because you just don't think it's in you? Tried to play slide guitar or alternate tunings only to run into a brick wall?
Over the past 40 years of teaching privately and in workshops across the country I've learned that the most important trait successful musicians share is a powerful mental approach to their instrument. In this workshop I will share strategies to get you on the guitar and on stage with a smile on your face, and provide confidence in your ability to perform. We'll talk about the psychology of expectations and how applying a few simple actions can make a huge difference in your relationship with sharing your music with others. We'll discuss the different mental approach required for practice, rehearsal and performance. And we'll provide every attendee an opportunity to perform a minute or two of any piece they'd like to share. Any criticism will be gentle and constructive. Performance will be encouraged but voluntary.
Attendees should have at least a small repertoire of songs they can perform, bring their guitar, and a pen and pad of paper are highly encouraged. Level: Beginner to Advanced, something for everybody here
