"I often perform on acoustic guitar either as a soloist or in duets and trios with other guitarists and keyboard players. I always like to keep the repertoire as diverse as possible - it's great to explore the freedom of moving from Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard to The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, the Allman Brothers, James Taylor, David Bowie, Muddy Waters, and Jimi Hendrix. If it's a great song, you should be able to put it across in any instrumental environment. My approach to technique and performance, as well as gear and set-up, needs to accommodate this expanse of material. I like to be able to alternate between full acoustic strumming and single-note soloing, and have a sound that will accommodate both easily and effectively. In this clinic, I will discuss specific playing techniques as well as the overall approach to sound. I will discuss the use of bridge transducer pickups and/or/vs. sound-hole pickups, acoustic D.I.s, effects, "acoustic" amps, etc. Video/taping permitted."
