WILS Music Coordinator Sharon Klein has donated a handmade, 12-fret steel guitar built to classical guitar scale in 1992 by Bill Wright. Proceeds of the auction will benefit Family of Woodstock’s John Herald Fund for musicians in need. Originally owned by renowned classical guitarist Frederic Hand, principal guitar and lutenist of the NY Metropolitan Opera, it was used on his Emmy Award winning soundtrack recording for “Days of Our Lives.” This luthier-built instrument has some battle scars but with the fine repair work of local luthier William Kramer-Harrison, maintains a fine, warm, focused tone. The guitar has been the go-to travel guitar for Sharon on her travels around the globe, including trips to and performances in Israel, El Salvador, Turkey, Cyprus, Taiwan, Costa Rica, Egypt, Jordan, Japan, and much of Europe. When she joined WILS as music programmer, she thought it fitting to have the guitar autographed by some of the great players who attended the showcase thru the years.
